Prescription FAQs

We will send your prescription to CVS and email you a voucher with your name, date of birth, and prescription on it.  You can use this voucher electronically (show them your phone) or print it.  Show the voucher to the pharmacy when you pick-up your birth control. If you want to use your insurance in addition to the voucher, let the pharmacy know.  If you don’t want to use your insurance, or don’t have insurance, you can use the voucher to cover the entire cost.  Either way, you should not have to pay for any prescription we send for you to CVS. You will only need to present the voucher the first time you pick up your prescription.

No!  If you get your prescription through CarePoint mail-order pharmacy, you will automatically be enrolled in refills.  Ten days before your refill is mailed to you, you will get a text confirming you still want the refill. Simply confirm you’d like the refill, and it will be mailed to you.  If you get your prescription at CVS, you can sign up for automatic refills at the pharmacy and go pick them up when needed. If you ever want to switch your method or type of pill, make a virtual visit with one of our providers and we can cancel the previous prescription and provide a new one.  If you have ANY issues with your refills, please email us at path4you@iu.edu or you can contact CarePoint directly at 855.237.9112.

You may need an appointment after a year of prescription.  If you are out of your prescription and it has been a year since your appointment, please email us at path4you@iu.edu.

The decision to use insurance is totally up to you and is not required. If you choose to use insurance, your insurance provider will be billed first and PATH4YOU will cover the rest of the bill.  If you don’t want to use your insurance, or don’t have any, we will cover the entire cost. If you have any issues with requirements for your insurance information please reach out to us at path4you@iu.edu.

You will get a text from CarePoint within a week of your appointment to tell you when your prescription is being shipped.  If you don’t receive a text, please email us at path4you@iu.edu.

YES! We are happy to provide a prescription for Plan B (the morning after pill or emergency contraception) along with any other method.

No, the voucher doesn’t cover things that weren’t prescribed.  BUT we are happy to prescribe Plan B or other over-the-counter items like condoms, pregnancy tests, and more for you—just let the clinical provider know during your visit that you are requesting these.

ALL CVS stores in Indiana will accept your voucher.  If a pharmacist doesn’t know how to process the voucher or says they can’t accept it, stay in the store & call us at 317-278-7284 or email us at path4you@iu.edu, we can usually clear up the issue right then.
